G & B's NC Weekend

Graham and Bart left NYC for the NC mountains this past weekend.  They played golf Friday afternoon then we hit Groovin' on the Green Friday evening. They were able to play golf again Saturday morning, after which we went to the Walhalla Fish Hatchery and hiked the East Fork Trail to the Chattooga River that afternoon.  Sunday we attended Summer Chapel and enjoyed lunch at the Chattooga Club with Annie and Poppy.  We headed back to Asheville yesterday afternoon as G & B had an early morning flight back to "the city" this morning.

It was a great weekend and I have no doubt that what will be most remembered by all of us are...
(1) the bear sighting | on the way back from Groovin' on the Green, the car with Mamere, Papere, Graham, Bart and Thompson saw mama bear and 3 of her cubs just outside the Pinnacle Ridge gate.
(2) hiking in the rain | at the furthest point into our hike (2.5 miles in) and a mere 100 yards from Chattooga River, we were caught in a deluge for a good 20 minutes.  I don't think any of us could remember a time when were were rained on in such a way everything we had on was wet.  When you realize there is nothing you can do to stay dry, you simply laugh and keep walking.
