Summer Swimming Summary

William worked hard this spring on his swimming and earned himself the opportunity to participate on the summer swim team alongside Thompson.  It should come as no surprise that with the season behind us, we are proud of both boy's accomplishments!
As the season got underway, we reminded Thompson his participation in the year-round swim club was going to pay off when it came time to the summer swim meets.  And I must say, it was exciting to see him in the water!  This year, his go-to races were the 25-yd fly leg in the team medley race, 25-yd fly, 25-yd back, 25-yd free and a 25-yd leg in the frees relay.

In his fastest freestyle race of the season, he swam 21.31, shaving 5 seconds off from last summer.  Similarly, he shaved 3 seconds off his backstroke with his fastest backstroke time of 26.83.  In the Championship Meet (which weren't his fastest times), he finished 5th/13 in the back, 7th/18 in the free, and 9th/10 in the fly.

As for William, his go-to race was the 15-yard freestyle.  We are confident that with another year under his belt, he'll be a fierce competitor!

Clips & 20"

In recent weeks, Thompson has practiced and practiced and finally mastered the clip pedals on his bike.  And William, well he's now riding the 20" Haro (which he mush prefers to call the "blue bike").

Mo-Mo takes to lawn-mowing

Thompson took another step towards growing up this weekend: he mowed the lawn (by himself).  Herb was getting ready to tackle the yard between our homes and asked if Thompson was interested in helping.  He quickly jumped at the opportunity and under the supervision of his "other dad", mowed the entire yard.  From my observation, he did a great job and Herb confirmed that to be true.  He said Thompson did well, even learning how to "feather" the gas, and now just need to work on mowing a straight line (which we all know is easier said than done!).
