How T Thinks

Most mornings, Thompson inquires about his breakfast choices (pronounced "koi-ces" these days). After giving him his options, I overheard his contemplation: "My brain is thinking about what it wants. My brain just said,'I don't know.' Granola bar. That was what my brain said." Obviously, we're getting a lot of good chuckles these days.

Dimple Boy

I don't have much time to post as T is reminding me it is snack time. Evidently, his stomach is saying "I am hungry. I am hungry right now" and I just overheard him tell his stomach "you are going to have to wait." This photo was taken of WY earlier today...yes, he'd got very distinctive dimples that we absolutely love!

Our Valentine's Day

To be honest, we aren't big fans of calendar-imposed holidays...especially when it comes to Valentine's Day. It's just not us. Shouldn't every day be a day to express your love to your spouse? So, each year when February 14th rolls around, we smile and wait for the 15th. A day far more special in our history books. The date of our first date. 12 years ago! Here's to celebrating one of the many special days for us, our marriage and our family.

As we were reflecting this past weekend, we must be a "holiday" family...met the day after Thanksgiving, first date was the day after Valentine's, married in the summer (the only exception!), Thompson born the week before Christmas and William born the day before Thanksgiving.

His Truths

As parents, we try daily to impart God's truths to Thompson in very real and practical ways. Over the past couple of days, we've seen our seeds produce fruit!

(1) We told Thompson school was cancelled due to the snow. About a half hour later, we learned his school was going to have a delayed open. We told Thompson his teacher had made a mistake in her communication with us and reminded him everyone makes mistakes. To which he responds, "Yea, but God doesn't."

(2) Prior to bedtime, Thompson was reprimanded for being disrespectful to daddy by saying hurtful things. We were saying our bedtime prayers and reminded Thompson that while we may disapprove of his actions, we always love him and love him so very much. To which he adds, "and God does too."

How right he is...on both accounts!

"But as for you, continue in what you have learned and have become convinced of, because you know those from whom you learned it, and how from infancy you have known the holy Scriptures, which are able to make you wise for salvation through faith in Christ Jesus. All Scripture is God-breathed and is useful for teaching, rebuking, correcting and training in righteousness." - 2 Timothy 3:14-16

Trip to "City House"

We spent this past weekend in Greensboro at the "city-house" visiting Mamere and Papere. We were able to see friends Heidi and Conrad and their little "trio" Jane (Jane-Jane), Julia and Conrad (Buddy) who are now 2 1/2 years old. William also met Sister and Sam for the first time. The video below captures William doing what he enjoys most these days...kicking his legs and waving his arms. Thompson's weekend highlights included sleeping on the pull-out sofa, visiting the Children's Museum Saturday afternoon with Papere and Mamere, walking to the depot station, and attending church (where he sat incredibly still, was amazingly quiet, and experienced communion).

Communion

So Thompson just came to me with a quarter and a little brown box and said, "Here, you need to take this. And pretend to eat it."

To which I nodded and continued with my work (mind you it is his quiet time, my work time and William's sleepy time).

Thompson continues, "You know at Summer Chapel when you go up to the front and get a cracker with a cross on it and then you put it in the cup and eat it?" Nodding affirmatively, he says, "Go ahead, try it," handing me the quarter to dip into the brown box.

Ahh, the experience of communion through the eyes of a child...I simply love it! He remembers so much more than we could ever imagine and his recreation of such experiences are one of the many ways he delights us.
