Discipline Demonstrates Love

Customer Service

Exceptional customer service is hard to come-by these days. And having had an outstanding experience recently, I felt obligated to share.

Long story short...Bobby ordered sheets and had them monogrammed for me for Christmas. Upon arrival, the color did not match the color shown on the website and the monogram was incorrect. I contacted the customer service department to see how they could remedy the problem. After no progress with the representative and her supervisor (who, I will add, responded as expected within the scope of their positions - monogrammed items are non-returnable), I wrote a letter to the company's President and CEO.

Upon receipt of my letter, a woman from the President's office contacted me to apologize for the complications and to see how they could best resolve the problem. She acknowledged the discrepancy with respect to the color shown on-line. Furthermore, she took the time to look at their website and listen to my suggestions as to how they could streamline and better detail the mongramming instructions in hope of better serving their current and future customers. To this end, she indicated that she would forward these recommendations to their website department.

I know you are anxious to learn of the company, and it gives me great pleasure to endorse and recommend Frontgate at the present time.

Chugga-Chugga Choo-Choo

Thompson has his first FAVORITE BOOK...Chugga-Chugga Choo Choo. Many thanks to friends Morgan and Bob Lyon for the recommendation. Thompson received the book for his birthday, and since then, it has become a vital part of his pre-nap and pre-bed routines. With simple, rhythmic language and vibrant colors, Chugga-Chugga Choo-Choo comes highly recommended by the Joneses. Who knows, we may have a future engineer on our hands! "pfooo-pfooo" (Thompson's version of "woooo-woooo," the sound the train makes in the book.)

A Winter Snowfall

After a thunderstorm New Year's Eve, I guess the old wives's tale "if it lightnings in the winter it'll snow in 10 days" held true. After a beautiful spring-like day yesterday, we woke up to temps in the 20's and a forecast of snow. By mid-morning it was snowing and has continued on and off all day. (Beautiful, large white snowflakes with not much accumulation. I wonder what tomorrow will hold!?) As you can imagine, Thompson discovered that something different was taking place outside today...and he pitched a fit everytime we came inside.

Wagon Fun

Santa brought Thompson a Radio Flyer Walker Wagon for Christmas. We can't decide which activity he enjoys more--pushing or being pushed. Either way, he loves it and we're staying in shape!

First Steps

Thompson reminds us daily how much he is growing and developing. He took what we'd consider his first steps (only a couple) on his birthday, and since then, has managed to improve his balance and add a few more. As you can see from the picture, he is enjoying this challenge.

City Girl Visits Mountain Family

We hadn't seen Graham (Avery's sister) since July, so it was especially nice to have her back in the Tarheel State (from the booming metropolis of NYC) for the Christmas holiday. Thompson has grown so much since over the past five months, so it was nice for T and Auntie G to spend QT together. As a bonus, we got a date-night with free Thompson-sitting.
