Our Travels in Review

Well, it's been almost 10 days since Thompson and I (mommy) returned from our travels across the great Tar Heel State. We departed April 10 for Greensboro where we spent a couple of days before heading east to the Outer Banks for a week. While in Greensboro, Mamere and Papere took Thompson to the NC Zoo, where he seemed to be more enthralled with the heavy machinery and equipment rather than the animals! We then spent 6 days oceanfront in the town of Corolla, located an hour north of Nags Head and Kitty Hawk (~15 miles from the NC-VA state line) and home to the Currituck lighthouse and wild Spanish horses. Much to our surprise, if we walked north on the beach about 5 minutes, the oceanfront became road! That's right...the road ended and all traffic was required to drive on the beach! And en route back home, we stopped in Raleigh to visit one of my college girlfriends and her family before heading back home to see our dearly-loved and missed daddy on April 20. Enjoy the photos, there are several posted to showcase some of the week's highlights.
Hold On! A picture of us atop the Currituck Lighthouse where the winds were in excess of 35 mph. Thompson walked up the stairs all by himself!

A snapshot of Thompson at the Wright Brothers Memorial in Kitty Hawk. Who would have known that we visited on one of the brother's birthdays!?
After visiting Kitty Hawk, we ventured to the enormous sand dunes at Jockey's Ridge.
Who said you had to look good at the beach? Graham and I getting ready for a Wild Horse Tour.
Here is a small sampling of the wild horses that we saw on the tour. This was a group of four, including a baby horse. As an aside, DNA testing shows that all of the horses in this area are 100% Spanish...amazing to see that they have survived in this region for hundreds of years!
If ever there was a lawnmower, Thompson can find one. This was one of his most favorite activities while in Raleigh!

What can you do with a "dump bump"?

Make that dump truck! Discover for yourself how T is enjoying playing with his "dump bump" here at the beach. (It's been down right chilly the past couple of days, but nevertheless, we're having a great time!)

What a day!

Well, Thompson and I (mommy) arrived in Greensboro yesterday afternoon as we are en route to the Outer Banks with my family for a week. We will be joining three other families with whom my family has vacationed at the beach each summer with for the past +20 years. Sadly, we had to leave daddy behind as work was calling his name.

This was a Friday full of adventure! Ma-mere (Mama) and Pa-pere (Baba) took Thompson to the Asheboro Zoo this morning. According to my parents, Thompson seemed more fascinated with the equipment found at the zoo than the animals. Imagine that!? Following a great afternoon nap, we walked to Center City Park where Thompson delighted in seeing the waterfalls and spent 20+ minutes using his imagination to turn a bird statue into his own personal digger! Next, we stopped by one of Mama and Baba's friends to see four two-week old puppies. And we completed our evening with a Greensboro Grasshoppers basketball game. Oh...and did I mentioned that we've seen and heard trains morning, noon and night?!

On a final note, while departing the baseball game, we ran into some of my cousins (Kelly and Kelly Harrill, Haley, Maggie and Josey) as well as two dear friends from high school, Doug and Tricia Milton Shaw and their two children. What a pleasant surprise and great way to end the day. Outer Banks...here we come!

In case you were wondering...

Thompson's two favorite videos these days can be found on YouTube:
JD 5020 Series Tractos Original Video, and
bob fermor & brandon fermor nunchaku JCB song

Enjoy life through the eyes and ears of a two-year old.
For Thompson, we think it is all about the music.
