After working through all his abrasions and inspecting his mouth, we determined no bones were broken and his teeth look good from the outset. As luck would have it, our dentist is on vacation, but in talking with him and emailing pictures, he suggested we see a pediatric dentist this morning to confirm all is OK. We were able to get in first thing this morning at the same dental practice that performed T's pulpotomy. And while they were expecting bad things given the swelling on T's face and lip, the x-rays showed no chipped, fractured or broken teeth or roots. He'll be on soft foods for a good week. So, no doubt about it, he's got one heck of a case of road rash.
After chillin' on the sofa last night, he got his first glimpse of his face before going to bed. He got upset, and I believe it was largely due to personal frustration that he fell rather than his appearance. We reminded him even the pros like he saw on the Tour de France crash and their crashes are often bigger than his.
While we haven't talked about it at length, and probably won't need to, I believe he's learned a lesson about controlling his speed going down hill. As well as he can ride, he's not got the same experience as the older kids.
