Happy Halloween!

We had an exciting Halloween here on CBL. Although, I have to admit, a week ago I wondered if we'd even get Thompson into his costume. After some coaxing last week, using the turtle as a pillow during nap and bed times, teaching him how to sign "turtle", and getting him into it for a few minutes each day, Thompson was anxious to become a turtle last night and even provided a bit of a waddle in his walk. The evening began with an excursion to our church's family-friendly Halloween party "Hoopla". While there, Thompson saw several farm animals, rode on a hayride, devoured some popcorn, had his first taste of a sno-cone for the first part of the evening and even scored some candy along the way. Afterwards, we returned home to close the night with a bit of trick-or-treating (or "surprise" as Thompson chose to say as he added that word to his vocabulary list last week!) around the neighborhood.

The Rest of Victory

I wanted to pass along something that a friend of mine shared on his CaringBridge site as he is undergoing chemotherapy and radiation for a brain tumor. I can take no credit for these powerful words...he received it from a friend, Barbara Cash in Charlotte, and it was sent to her by Mal McSwain (a former Young Life leader). My prayer is that anyone who reads this entry will remember Whose they are and find encouragement from these words. Blessings!

THE REST OF VICTORY
There is nothing - no circumstance, no trouble, to testing - that can ever touch me until, first of all, it has gone past God and past Christ right through to me. If it has come that far, it has come with a great purpose, which I may not understand at the moment. But as I refuse to become panicky, as I lift up my eyes to Him and accept it as coming from the Throne of God for some great purpose of blessing to my own heart, no sorrow will ever disturb me, no trial will disarm me, no circumstance will cause me to fret, for I shall rest in the joy of Who my Lord is. That is the rest of victory.

Exciting Weekend

We've had an exciting weekend here in Cashiers with Saturday being the highlight! In a nutshell, Thompson saw "diggers", rode his first horse, enjoyed Lonesome Valley, and saw a wild emu near Ma-mere and Pa-pere's house. WOW! We're heading down the mountain this weekend and looking forward to a trip to Chattanooga next weekend.

Avery's "Official"

That's right...as of this evening Avery is became a licensed real estate broker in the state of NC...YEAH! She took the state exam this afternoon and passed - phew! Needless to say, she is glad to have that behind her. Many, many thanks for all of your prayers.
