Meet the Teacher

Summer has quickly come to a close, especially for Thompson, as his school year begins in two short days.  He is beginning at a new charter school, Invest Collegiate: Imagine, and we are excited about this educational opportunity.  Thompson had a great experience at our local elementary school; however, once we learned about IC: Imagine, we felt it was the best place for Thompson (and ultimately for William) given their personalities and academic skills.  We attended "Meet the Teacher" this afternoon and got our first glimpse inside the school's new facility.  They renovated a 27,000 square foot former health club space that is servings as their temporary home for two years while they seek to purchase property and build their permanent facility...and it's fabulous!  The school has high expectations for its Champions with an underlying, intentional focus on leadership; high academic standards; integration of the arts; Spanish at all grade levels; and recognition of the importance of physical activity in helping youth learn.  This year, there are two third grade classes, and from what we learned today, both Collegiate Leaders will be teaching all of the third graders:  Think of it as a third grade community of learners - not this class and that class.  Just plan awesome!  Stay tuned...
