Christmas in Cashiers

As in previous years, we were with our families in Cashiers for Christmas.  This year, we settled in at Annie and Poppy's with Allison, while Mamere, Papere, Graham, Bart and Bart's mom Anne were at the "mountain house".  It was a treasured time with our families and it's always exciting to experience Christmas through the eyes of our boys.  Santa found his way and made sure to consume all of the cookies and eggnog before continuing on his travels.  Thompson was surprised to find a football, football tee and football pump with his stocking, while William discovered a baseball {whiffle} bat and balls.  Other Christmas surprises for the boys included a trip to Wilderness in the Smokies in January, bike socks and jerseys, race belts, Kapla blocks, books, puzzles, t-shirts, power capes, swim goggles and triathlon attire.  Albeit a bit chilly and overcast, we were able to venture outside to the Village Green where the balls and bat were put to good use {and the boys were able to burn off some energy!}  

We're back home now celebrating the remaining eight days of Christmas.  While our favorites gifts may be tangible ones, when asked "who" was the best gift...it's Jesus.  Amidst the busyness of Christmas Day and even the excitement Thompson had for the gifts he received, he told me a couple times "Christmas isn't about receiving, it's about giving."  Yes it is...and may we remember that each and every day!
